Decking and Design...

For many years we have been designing and constructing decked areas, gazebos, huts and pergolas all over the country. In recent years we have installed countless thatched huts and gazebos in all manner of locations. Decking is a very quick way of transforming an area in your garden into somewhere you can sit and eat, or entertain friends. Decking is very low maintenance and always looks neat and tidy. If it is constructed well, it will last for many years without any problem.

We only use quality tanalised redwood timbers in our decked areas, and always make sure that they have plenty of support so they feel strong and solid. We can work with you to establish exactly what you want to use the decking for, and exactly what you want it to look like.

This area of garden used to be an area of broken concrete slab, with an ugly looking heating oil tank in the corner.

We designed a split level decked area, and cleverly concealed the oil tank behind a featherboard cladded panel.

We continued the cladding around the wall to conceal a disused door and window. The balustrading ‘defines’ the area without ‘containing’ it.

Heavy flood waters washed the old bridge away a few years ago. We constructed and installed a much more substantial replacement. The footbridge sits on two strong steel girders, which we hid with timber cladding.

Though the handrail design is not what we would have chosen, it was what the customer requested as it mirrored the original.

We are repeatedly hearing in the media that more and more people are growing their own vegetables these days. Whether it is the economic climate, or just that people are starting to enjoy the basics in life, the facts are that people are setting aside a bit of their gardens to ‘have a go!’.

We can help you design and build raised borders and planters for either vegetables, or indeed flowers. This particular allotment is now producing vast quantities of fresh food.
